PUNCAK - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 323/Buaya Putih Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Puncak Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the 323 Task Forces, especially the Mayuberi Post led by First Lieutenant Yudo, conducted a security patrol in the Akonobak Village, Ilaga Utara District. During the patrol, the Team met a man complaining of pain.
When they passed each other, the Patrol Team saw a man sitting on the side of the road. His name was Melkiaw Lokbene, and he complained of pain in his arm. After being approached by the Soldiers, it was seen that Melkiaw had an injury, which, according to him, he admitted was caused by a machete while helping his friend cut wood in the garden. Melkiaw, who could not bear the pain of his injury, had to sit on the side of the road and hold his arm.
Luckily, while carrying out the patrol, a Medical personnel from the Task Force was also part of the Patrol Team. Seeing Melkiaw's condition, the personnel immediately checked and treated his arm wound. After the first aid, the personnel gave Melkiaw free medicine to consume for the next few days to heal his wound.
The actions of the Patrol Team in Akonobak Village followed up on the emphasis of the Commander of the 323 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Tri Wiratno, regarding the importance of the Task Force's attention to the community's basic needs in the assigned area. After the treatment, Melkiaw expressed his gratitude by saying, "Thank you, Soldier. God bless."
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 323 Task Forces’ initiative to provide treatment to a resident of Akonobak Village. His words: 'The 323 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to helping the residents with difficulties in the health sector, one of the community's basic needs, to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region.' This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development, instilling a sense of progress and hope about their potential to positively shape the region's future. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized and appreciated for their efforts.
